Racing hosted by the Clausen/ Branstad/ Silva team 820 on the Sugaree.
A wild day with a light air race in a northerly that went away, finding boats reaching to the shortened finish line with a strong current that really exaggerated gybe angles. You had to go for white sails early if you were on the left side downwind. Those that didn't finished about 5 minutes late, or later.
The second race was more typical in a south westerly breeze.
Third race featured some of the most exciting action in years with almost all boats overlapped at the weather mark, absolutely all the boats overlapped down the run, with most of those boats feeling they were in the lead at one point or another, and lots of chatter between boats concerning overlaps and the lack therof. When the fleet hit the bottom mark, 7 abreast, only the inside boats made out unscathed. The top two boats at the top mark, 977 and 966, actually came out of the leeward mark in last place. You hadda be there.
